Superbowl and Starving Children

Super bowl Sunday! A time many people are looking forward to and tomorrow was be the talk of the town in who won, what happened with someone's wardrobe, and only if...

The girls and I went to church today where they learned about 5 loaves and 2 fish ...
For anyone that does not know the story is about provision and God meeting the needs of his people. In fact he provided for more than just their needs.

Event:
Thinking about this I think back on what my 6 year old told be on Friday evening as I was picking her and her sister up. It's a 45 minute drive to get them. She said dad I'm starving... my ear perked up. Not the kidding over exaggeration but literally she sounded serious... I immediately asked what have you had today... She told me, "I did not get to school early enough to eat breakfast and lunch was only 3 chicken nuggets and I bought a $.50 bag of chips." It was 7 PM. What she told me was about 250 calories for the entire day. I gave her a Cliff Bar in the car and we stopped at the nearest grocery store we could and got them food.

In the back of my mind my heart is crushed that anyone could let my, their, ANY kids go without food when we have so much.

"Strength to the weak and Power to the powerless"
Action: First thing I did was pray and cry. Why is this the system? But I am reminded what man has meant for evil .... God will use for good. I can't see how yet but I have started an action.
My six year old will be given a meal calendar.

It also got me thinking about so many that went to school (yes in America) with little to nothing to eat today. Kids that don't know Doritos are not going to allow you to grow-up healthy and strong like their heroes. Those same Doritos that are in THIS football game today and are going to be praised by these kids dads.

Take Away: Nothing wrong with snacks... but just to reflect as you watch your football game maybe consider telling your kids what GOOD FOOD is and praise the one who prepares it, as well as, and the one that provides it. Be thankful.
